5 Fun bridal shower games

One of the tasks necessary when planning a bridal shower is to offer several games for guests to play. Bridal shower games serve several purposes. One of the main reasons to have games is to allow guests to get to know each other. Very often the shower has a unique group of people that range widely and may include close family members, relatives, work friends, and other acquaintances. Additionally, the shower usually incorporates people from families of both the bride and groom, who often don’t know each other until now.

Prizes can be incorporated into the games. Remember that prizes are just for fun so they don’t need to be extravagant. In fact, it’s best to choose plenty of cute small objects so that you can give out plenty of prizes. Hold a few back to give to those who don’t win one in a game. Some good ideas for prizes include makeup items, beauty products, kitchen gadgets, and decorative pieces.

Here are some of the best games to try for your wedding shower.

Name the Celebrity – When guests arrive each is given a headband with the picture of a famous celebrity on it. They can’t look at the photo themselves but they can ask people questions throughout the night to try to find out who the celebrity is. Set up several “check points” during the party to ask people to guess the name. If they guess correctly they can remove the tiara and they also get a prize.

Bingo – Bingo is a fun icebreaker that everyone knows how to play. This is the perfect game for all ages so grandma, mom, and the bridesmaids will all have fun with it. You can make your own bingo cards or purchase pre-made designs. Use common wedding phrases for each square. Whenever anyone hears that phrase spoken they can put an x on that square. The first one to get bingo wins a prize but you can keep the game going longer if you like.

Toilet Paper Gown Game – This is a wacky yet trendy game to play at bridal showers. Divide the party into several or more groups. Each group is given rolls of toilet paper and choose a model. Then, each group must fashion a bridal gown and veil on their model using toilet paper. Make a time limit of about 10 minutes. For added ambiance, play the bridal march in the background. When done, everyone votes on the best gown. Be sure to take plenty of pictures.

Clothespin Game – A fun game to play throughout the party, give each guest a specific number of clothespins to start with. Provide a list of “taboo” words that are related to weddings. Some examples include “honeymoon”, “ceremony”, and “wedding”. Whenever someone catches another guest saying one of the words, they can take a clothespin away from them. At the end of the evening, the person with the most clothespins is the winner.

Bridal Bouquet Hot Potato – This game is played just like hot potato, but uses a bridal bouquet instead. In this civilized version the players pass the bouquet while the music is playing. When the music stops, the person holding the bouquet is out. The game continues until only one person remains.
