Essential tips for the groom

As the groom, it is your first and foremost duty to do whatever is asked of you by the bride. This may include running some errands as well as resolving any problems that arise throughout the planning of the wedding as well as on the wedding day. The groom has but a few responsibilities in the wedding planning and execution; however, they must be executed flawlessly. To be successful and start the marriage off on the right foot, incorporate these essential tips for the groom both before and during the wedding.

• Do what you’re told. Remember that this is the bride’s big day (yes, it’s your day, too) so do whatever is necessary to keep the bride happy.

• Get a list of what to do. You’ll need to stay on top of the list and keep it updated to know what is expected of you.

• Stay positive. Lots of little things are going to happen that are going to stress out your fiancé. Now is the time you need to be a pillar of strength.

• Be available. If some decisions need to be made or you need to make some site visits, be sure to make yourself available. You may need to give up some of your plans now but it will be worth it.

• Offer your opinion – but only when asked.

• Be the liaison for your relatives. Volunteer to stay in the loop when needed.

• Stay Neutral – No matter what happens, you need to keep your cool and remain neutral.

• Provide some time away from wedding planning so you and your fiancé can have some fun together without stress.

• Pull the reigns in on your groomsmen. It’s up to you to keep them from acting inappropriately. If you have a guy friend who has the potential to spoil the wedding, don’t allow him to be part of your wedding party.

• Stay ahead of schedule. Don’t wait until the last minute to get your tasks done. You don’t need your bride to remind you of your requirements. For example, allow plenty of time to rent your tuxedo and to get your groomsmen fitted.

• Take charge of your list of duties including planning the honeymoon.

• Show an interest in the details, even if you don’t really care about them.

• Play an active role in wedding planning and decision making.

• On the wedding day, be punctual and prepared.
