Relax with an at home spa

Here are some of the best recipes and ideas for making a spa at home.

The last few days before the wedding will be hectic ones. It’s important to take some time for yourself to relax and de-stress. You don’t need to visit an expensive spa. Instead, simply create a spa in your own home. Here are some of the best recipes and ideas for making a spa at home.

The At-Home Facial

A facial is one of the easiest things to do at home and provides great results. First, gather the items you’ll need and prepare the products. Create a relaxing atmosphere – you can complete the facial in any room of the home where you’ll be comfortable.

Ingredients:
Sliced cucumbers
2 Tbs. Oatmeal, ground
2 Tbs. Plain yogurt
Several drops of honey

Mix all the ingredients together to form a paste. Add drops of warm honey to create the consistency that you would like.

Directions:
Wash your face and exfoliate using a good product for your skin type. Steam your face to open the pores and allow them to accept the facial mask. You can steam your face by placing a hot, wet washcloth on your face for several minutes or by holding your head over a pot of hot water. Once your face is steamed, apply the mask to your entire face, avoiding the eye area. Sit or lie down and place a sliced cucumber over each eye. Relax with the mask on for about 15 to 20 minutes before gently washing the mask off your face.

Purifying Sugar Scrub

Sugar scrubs are wonderful for exfoliation of the face and body. You can make your own sugar scrub for just pennies (as compared with expensive spa sugar scrubs).

Ingredients:
1 Cup refined sugar (you may choose raw sugar if you prefer)
1 Cup good quality oil of your liking
Several drops of essential oil in your choice of scent

Directions:
Combine the sugar and oil and mix well. Add several drops of essential oil and mix it well. Store the product in a glass container – it will keep for weeks. To use, scoop out some of the scrub and place it onto a washcloth or scrubbing towel. Rub onto the face and body, rubbing in gently with your fingers. Leave on for a minute or two, then rinse off with warm water.

Detoxifying bath

There is nothing more relaxing than soaking in a warm tub. This detox bath recipe will help to remove toxins from the body and will naturally get rid of impurities and any redness. It’s also great for sunburns and is a gentle way to soothe the skin.

Ingredients:
2 Cups Apple Cider Vinegar
2 Cups Epsom salts
2 Cups Oats, ground
1 Cup dried green tea leaves
1 Cup loose Chamomile buds

Directions:
In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients together. Crush the oats, leaves, and buds until they are fine (you can use a food processor if you like). Then, mix the apple cider vinegar into the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Pour the mixture into hot running bath water. Soak in the warm water for about an hour. While soaking, light several small candles, play soothing music, and place cucumber slices on your eyes. Rinse off with a warm shower after soaking.
