The Best Wedding Photo Tips

Your wedding is approaching and you need to know how to make sure that the photos turn out as good as possible. After all, the wedding will be over in a day but the pictures will last a lifetime.

List the Photos You Want

You don’t need to micromanage your photographer to get the best photos. Simply provide the photographer with a list ahead of time of the photo ops that you want to make sure you get. Try to avoid listing every little thing or the photographer will have little option for creativity. Do plan to go over the list well ahead of time so that you’re sure to get the photos that you desire. For example, if you want to be sure that you get a photo of Aunt Edna and Uncle Joe ask the photographer to request a special picture of them.

Work with the Photographer on a Timeline

Provide your photographer with a timeline that indicates when the important parts of your wedding will occur. The photographer needs to know where to be and what time to be there. If you want special pictures at a park or other locale you’ll need to plan this ahead of time. Make sure that you indicate indoor and outdoor photos required so the photographer comes prepared with the proper equipment.

Delegate

Ask a friend or relative to oversee the photographer throughout the wedding events. Provide a list of the important photos you want taken along with any special information. The person you designate will be able to make sure that the photos are being taken per your request. If you’re using table cameras you’ll need a person assigned to collecting them when they are done. Tape printed numbers to each camera with a list of which cameras are assigned to which tables. This makes it easier to track down cameras at the end of the night.

Consider a Photo Booth

A photo booth is a fun option to consider. The booth allows people to take their own photos as they desire. They can go into the booth and have their photos taken just like at a carnival or at the mall. Guests can take their photo strips along with them for a lasting memento of your wedding. You can usually rent photo booths by the hour and they may be part of a photographer’s package.

Photojournalistic Style

A hot trend now is to take photojournalistic style photos. These are more natural, candid shots that show the real people as they are at your wedding. The photographer may be quite good at taking these types of shots. If this is the style you prefer make sure the photographer is able to provide it for you.
