Your wedding is the most important day of your life so you need to choose your wedding date carefully.
You’ve made the big decision – you’re getting married! The first thing that everyone is going to ask you is “when is the wedding?”. Your wedding is the most important day of your life so you need to choose your wedding date carefully. Follow these easy tips for picking your wedding date and you’ll get your marriage off on the right foot.
• Choose a date that is not a holiday. However, you may want to consider getting married on a day that is connected to a holiday weekend – especially if you’re having a destination wedding.
• Ask both sets of parents for their advice on wedding dates. You don’t want to hold your wedding on someone’s birthday or anniversary.
• Pick a date for your wedding that allows enough time to save money for the wedding. Determine the approximate cost of your wedding and think about how much time you may need to save for the big day.
• Think about time of year. June is the most popular month for weddings for a reason – spring and summer offer the best weather and are warmer than other months of the year.
• Find out when you’ll be able to take time off from work. Check with your boss to learn when you qualify for a vacation and determine how long you’ll be able to be away. Some jobs have busy times of the year and you’ll want to avoid asking for time off when it isn’t convenient.
• Get a calendar and begin to eliminate dates that won’t work. Think about whether the day of the week matters because Thursday, Friday, and Sunday weddings may be easier to book on short notice and may be less expensive.
• Talk to your church to find out when the ceremony can take place. Your church may be booked a year in advance so you’ll want to find out the available dates.
• When you have a few dates in mind take some time to review each of them to see which is the best choice. Once you decide on a date you can begin making wedding plans and you’ll be able to start telling people the date of your wedding.
