There are some ways you can save on your honeymoon costs while still getting the trip of your dreams.

Where to splurge and where to save on your honeymoon

A honeymoon can be very expensive and the many costs can add up quickly. The newlyweds don’t want to scrimp on this important vacation but you don’t have to pay too much either. There are some ways you can save on your honeymoon costs while still getting the trip of your dreams. Here are some ways to save and splurge on your honeymoon.

Splurge

Nice hotel – You want your honeymoon to be memorable and certainly don’t want to stay at a fleabag motel. That being said, you can always find some good deals even on the top rated hotels. To get the best deals book early and compare prices between different travel sites as well as the hotel itself to get a low price.

A room with a view – Pay a few extra dollars to be sure to get a nice room. If the hotel is located on the beach you’ll usually pay about 10% more for a room with a good view.

Local Sightseeing – Don’t worry about spending money to do the special things that you can only do at the location where you visit. Take a sunset cruise, have dinner at the top local restaurant, and take a tour of the town.

Dinner – Plan to have a few nice dinners while out of town. Check out the most popular local restaurants and those that are owned by famous chefs. You may need to make reservations weeks (or months) in advance.

Save

Save on meals for your honeymoon. Consider having daily breakfast in your hotel room or choose a hotel that offers free continental breakfast in the lobby. Take a morning stroll along the beach and grab a cup of coffee and donut on the way.

Souvenirs are an important part of any vacation but can be especially sentimental when the items are from your honeymoon. Instead of buying a lot of unnecessary junk, think about what you really want to remember and make smart purchases.

Pack your own essentials – buying sunscreen, earplugs, bathing suits, towels, and other items can be very expensive if you’re at a resort. Instead, bring your own items from home and save your money.

All-inclusive vacation – You can actually save a lot of money by purchasing an all-inclusive honeymoon package. These package deals can save you anywhere from 10% to as much as 30%. Be careful to choose a package that you’ll use – if not, it will turn out to cost you more than it’s worth.

Plan to have some fast-food meals. Eating out can take a huge chunk of money out of your vacation budget – money you won’t see again. Agree to splurge on a few nice dinners and have daily lunch on a budget. Eat where the locals do and you’ll get a great taste of the area while saving money at the same time.
