How to find the perfect hairstyle for your wedding day
While finding the perfect gown will likely dominate the early days of wedding planning, coming up with the perfect hairdo will probably cause a few panic attacks as the big day draws near. Making sure your hair stylist knows exactly what you want is incredibly important. But, how do you decide what to actually do with your ‘do?
This doesn’t have to be a hair-raising experience! There are some tips and tricks that can help you guide your hair stylist in the right direction in regard to your hairdo. First, however, you have to figure out what type of style you’re after. To do that, think about these things:
The length of your hair – If you currently have a short bob, going with a sweeping up-do might pose a challenge. Extensions can help here, but you’ll have to decide if this is a step you want to take. Some brides simply prefer a more natural look. If you fit this bill, embrace the hair you have and seek out a style that compliments your tresses and their length.
The style of your gown – Some gowns simply scream for certain hairstyles. For example, gowns with sweeping necklines tend to look spectacular with up-dos that show off a lot of neck. Half-up styles look fantastic with veils and spaghetti straps. Loose curls can do wonders with a gown that’s strapless, but up-dos can also steal the show.
Your venue and wedding theme – These two considerations can make selecting the right hairstyle a real snap. Theme weddings, for example, can really guide you in the right direction for a hairstyle. A beach style wedding, for example, might call for a playful up-do, but a medieval affair might be better suited for a heavily plaited style with elaborate designs and long curls.
Once you have a good idea of the type of style you’d like, make sure to find a picture to match. Going through bridal magazines, websites and even celebrity-watcher magazines can help a great deal. Ideally, you’ll want to bring a picture of your desired hairdo along when you interview salons to provide your cosmetic services. Keep in mind that not every salon has someone who specializes in creating elaborate hairstyles. You might need to interview a few before your find the perfect hair stylist for your big day.
